I was robbed!
I removed my Credit Card info from my World of Warcraft account account and let my paid account lapse two weeks ago. I wanted to take some time off to study for my CCNP and prepare for the wedding. Last night, iloose2 was over to our house and told me that our Guild Vault was plundered. We had two mostly filled tabs of inventory that were missing. I imagine that value was hundreds of gold. WoW game masters would not tell him who took the inventory and only said that they were a guild member and had rights to do so. But that account was deleted and Blizzard frees up the name immediately, so the logs only shown the user as "Unknown". He also said that he saw me online a couple days ago.

I freaked out a bit. I immediately tried to long onto Wow and the Wow website and could not. I called billing and account support and they told me my account was active and someone used a Discover card to pay for a month. Well, I don't even have a Discover card, so I know it was not mine. They reset my password and changed my email address to use a different email account. Since my account now had a month aid access, i was able to log into the game.

I logged in and immediately saw that VeurcaSalt, my level 8ish mage was deleted. I never played her much as i really created her to be mostly a mule to storing items. So I guess i just figured out who had raided our guild bank. I logged into ChuckBucket, who is my Gnome Warlock, who i just got up to level 70 about a month ago. I found him in Netherstorm in an area that i had never been to and saw he had explored a lot of places that i had never been to and that my tool bars had been changed. Someone was actually PLAYING my account. I also found that i was missing about 800 gold and several hundred more gold worth of items from my bags and my bank.

I logged a trouble ticket to a Game Master. They got back to me this morning. i got some of the items back but not most of the valuable stuff and none of the gold. I checked my level 60 Night Elf Hunter, Sthompson and found that he had been plundered but not played. He is missing a few hundred worth of gold and materials. I checked my only Horde character, my level 28 Orc warrior Brdawg and he doesn't look like he has been touched.

The Trouble Ticket that was answered this morning said that a character specialist was going to complete a deeper investigation of my account and will see if they can restore more items. Hopefully then can and then also restore our items in the guild vault.

We are guessing that whoever compromised my account used my recently 70 leveled warlock to farm for gold to sell after stealing our items. The credit card was probably stolen. The other possibility is that my account was sold to someone who was just wanted to play a level 70 character without having to earn it. If the credit card is not found as stolen and canceled or if Blizzard does not remove it from my account, i might get 6 more months free as i switched my subscription from 1 to 6 months. If it is stolen, it will be canceled and the legit owner can file a chargeback and get their money refunded. If it was a legit card from a duped buyer, then they are in for a surprise for their stupidity. Later in the evening last night, i had checked my e-mail to see if there was a status update on the ticket. I saw that someone requested a password reset as the email was sent to my new email account. But that makes me wonder. How DID they get my password? Did they have access to my e-mail? Granted I am bad and lazy and use the same password on many of my accounts and have not changed it much in over 4 years.

I upset over this but surprising not as much I probably should be. I am more concerned. I have changed my email and WoW passwords to different passwords. And I will soon start the arduous task to reset all my major passwords to something new. I am just concerned that i might have a keylogger on one of my computers. I have scanned my laptop with a virus check, spyware check and a rootkit detector and could not find anything. I also made sure i had the lastest MS XP updates. I suppose it is possible that it was a simple brute force attack or perhaps a rogue addon to the game, but you would think that Blizzard would also have detected that...

Level 70
Who got their Gnome Warlock to level 70 this weekend?

*Points thumbs at self*

This guy!

I got a Golden Griffin as my flying mount, but as an Engineer, I can get the special Gyrocoptor. Unfortunately, it takes some special materials that I can not readily buy or make right now. So, I guess I am now maxed out experience until the new expansion comes out in November. But I now had to gather about 4500 gold to buy the Epic Flying mount.

Burning Crusades and Warlock Epic Mount
I got both my both my Warlock and my Hunter to level 60 the week before Xmas. iloose2 got me the Burning Crusades for a Christmas present. We spent Christmas eve and day getting his Mage up to level 60 and by the afternoon, My Warlock and his Mage headed to the Outlands for the first time and have completed a dozen or so quests there since. He came over this afternoon and now we are both about 5% away from level 62.

Last night and this morning, I have been working on the series of quests that lead up to my Epic riding mount. I have them all completed but the two that require runs though dungeons. I am hoping to line up some of you Guild Members to help be run through them. i have to first go to Scholomance and get to the Alchemy lab there. Then I have to go though Dire Maul West. I hear that dungeon is a real Bitch. I have only attempted two lower level ones so i am not very knowledgeable on them. Hopefully my fellow guild members can get me though them as I REALLY want this Dreadstreed Mount.

The August Leveling drive...
Well jegie and I have been playing Wulfgyr and Inger in our attempt to try and get out of the level 40 range. So we're going to be focusing on them as our primary characters for a while so we can get to the Outlands.

We're currently both almost halfway to 42. Hope to be catching up to Gned and Asti soon!

In case anyone on the Horde side was wondering where we've been lately...

Higher than a kite!
So Asti got 70 and got her flying mount! She got the snowy gryphon, of course. :D

- Flying over Shadowmoon Valley immediately after purchase

- Amongst the treetops of Terokkar Forest

- Cruising over Shattrath City

His colors (white with blue features) are the same as Squall's!

Four bubbles and 50g away from a flying mount!!! And I'm actually going to bed early instead of going for it tonight. I currently have well over 50g worth of stuff in the AH (30 of which is pretty much a sure thing) so the gold and the experience will be easily attainable within another couple of hours of playing, so possibly tomorrow evening and definitely this weekend!

And I finally made a userpic of Asti and Squall. Only took 69 levels!

EDIT 7/13 7:45am: Only 25g to go!

Check out what Asti dropped 630g on. Well, 540g for the riding lessons and 90g for the reins. He's white with green eyes and green jewels! Perfect for me! I only had about 400g a few days ago and it took me a few days to get 230g more, but whee... he's fast! Luckily, I have four more levels to save up once again for a flying mount. Tony said those were WAY fun.

Has anyone used or even heard about Rupture?

It is created by Shawn Fanning, the guy who did Napster.

[Hordiculture] Can we talk???
I'm planning to log on tonight using the Ventrilo server. So if you have the headset, why not join me and we can do some voice chatting tonight.

You can download the voice client at http://www.ventrilo.com

Hear you later!

Rumors of the Horde...
I heard that there was some discussion of starting a Horde guild. I'm TOTALLY on board with this!

I'll start playing my Tauren Shaman again tonight and see if I can come up with a gold to contribute.

I think for a guild name we should do something that parallels "Sheep The Star". Maybe "Fear the X" or something along those lines...

Just my 2 cents!

I got skills!
Ok. Apparently, Tsaa/Asti felt like she had too much money (and she really didn't) and she also felt like skinning wasn't really doing anything for her, so she dropped it and picked up enchanting. About 100g and a Jaiden-escorted trip to the artisan trainer in Uldaman later, she's at 250 skill with a 20 slot enchanting bag (thanks to her tailoring!) filled with materials. She's to the point where repeatedly grinding out enchants on grey level 2 bracers and shields seems like a waste and she has some pretty good enchants to offer.

The ones that will level her nicely at the moment are +7 stamina or strength to bracers. If anyone is interested, please let me know! She has enough materials for about 5 each of those enchants. She also has materials for a few + 5 damage to 2H weapon enchants that create that blue glow everyone loves so much. (Though she'd prefer to cast that on weapons you plan on using for a while.)

Other enchants she has plenty of mats for are: +5 stamina to boots, +50 armor to cloak, and a few for +5 agility to boots. She's now addicted to scanning the AH for cheap greens and blues (cheap being relative at this level!) and tailoring greens and blues she happens to have the materials for and is therefore continuously getting more materials too. Jaiden's been blacksmithing green items and helping her go on dungeon runs as well. Join the fun sometime!

So yeah. After that and buying her mount, I'm totally broke, but much happier with my professions!

We are go for voice!
Sheep The Star now has a Ventrilo server! This means that we can use voice communications while we're playing, which is VERY useful when running instances or tricky group activity. It's much faster to co-ordinate pulling and warn others of adds than by typing.

You can download the Ventrilo client at http://www.ventrilo.com

The information for the guild's server is in the guild message of the day, that includes the IP, port and password for the voice server.

You can use anything for the username, but it would probably be best to use one of your character names, just so everyone knows who is who.

There's also a Ventrilo overlay add on that will display the speaker's name in the game when they are talking. I haven't tested this yet, but if you want to try it you can download it here:

See you and hear you online!
